I lived in Froyle from 1964 til 1979 and have enjoyed looking at the web site. Brought back many memories and nice to see my old house amongst the various photos.

I have been dabbling with family history and know that I am a direct descendent of Aquila Clapshaw/Clapshoe who I believe comes from Froyle. My Grandmother was a Clapshaw and was born in Farnham. I would be interested in getting in contact with Brian Head who mentioned he was also a descendant

This is a wonderful website! A brilliant example of what a village CAN do! We had relatives The Messengers, who were Maltsters in the village in 1850s. We are coming to visit soon, and found your whole site inspirational and informative.

  What a brilliant website!

I am researching my family history and a friend told me to look at it. I am so glad that I did.

My paternal grandmother's maiden name was Brownjohn and her father - Arthur James - was born in Froyle in 1865. I know that the family had a grocers business in Froyle in the 1800 and 1900's.

If anyone has any information about the Brownjohn family in Froyle I would be most interested to hear from you. Please feel free to e-mail me.

  What a great site.

I am researching my family tree and discovered my mother's family's(surname Dixon) origins in Froyle. The parish records have been very helpful to me - many thanks!

  Hi,
We have just moved into 1 Ewelme and - having previously lived on a farm for 8 years with very few neighbours - are looking forward to being part of a community at last.
Thanks to everyone that said 'hello' as we were moving in - we hope to explore the village proper once the weather finally improves and the evenings get a bit lighter.

Our one experience of Froyle we've had so far was to watch the second half of the AFC Froyle's match on the 19th. Unfortunately I think they lost quite heavily.. must have been a bad day?

The pitch was pretty wet and as one of the players walked off the pitch covered in mud, it was my nephew who went up to him and said ' your shoes are all muddy!' This is the same four-year-old that was so helpful in retreiving the ball, only to kick it in the wrong direction. For that I can only apologise..
As I said, we are looking forward to being part of the village and should anyone see a furry black blur charging around Hadwick's corner, please do not be alarmed - it's just our (perminatly terrified) cat Willow..

Love the site. am trying to trace family of my father (AB Smith) on his grand-mother's side - her name was Lilian Knight and I beleive she came from Froyle or Bently. She married Frederick Reginald Smith about 1895 and moved to Aldershot soon after. He died 1909 and she remarried and became Mrs. Wright. I think her family owned a butcher's shop in fFroyle or Bently.

If anyone knows of this family and anything which can help me trace them back in history please feel free to email me; susansmith52@yahoo.com

Beautifl village. Loved looking round last week.
