| We
knew virtually nothing about the families who lived at Coldrey until
we heard from Ron Jones in New Zealand. He sent us some photographs
from the descendants of James Hockley who worked at Coldrey from
1859 to 1924. Working from the 1901 Census - Coldrey was not included
with Froyle until then - and from Ron's notes, we think we have the
correct names for the people.

| Miss
Jessie J Duncan
|
We
believe this is likely around 1901 and we think it is that of
Mr
John W Duncan and his sister Miss Jessie J Duncan (their respective
ages in 1901 were 44 and 41 years). The back of the picture reads
“Hop fields at Coldrey where James (Hockley) worked. Two of the family
owners.” |
