| When Tom Knight first came to Froyle as Headmaster of the village school, his young daughter, Barbara, suffered at the hands of the other children. They would run after her calling “You’re a ghost! You’re a ghost! ”. It was said that the ghost of a certain Barbara Knight (whose grave is in the churchyard) used to walk on Midsummer Eve on the lawn of Sylvesters Farm under the cedar tree. The picture above, of Sylvesters Farm in the 1880s, also show Barbara Knight (no relation of Tom Knight) herself seated on the lawn, under the cedar tree....... The enlargement below shows her seated on the left with members of her family. |
