Froyle celebrated a rather cool Golden Jubilee with a Street Party, presided over by our Jubilee King & Queen. The children were entertained by ‘Mr Giant’ and each received a Jubilee Mug, courtesy of the Froyle Players. In the evening residents enjoyed a barbecue and dancing, before the large bonfire was lit by MP James Arbuthnot, accompanied by the ‘Royal Pair’. A magnificent firework display ended a very joyful day, despite the weather!
The weather was superb as the bonfire was constructed on the Recreation Ground in Lower Froyle. Duncan Forrester and his bonfire team were greatly aided by Mick Wells and the loader. |

Bunting was strung up around the area that would be used for the Street Party
Most people remembered jellies(!) at their Coronation Celebrations in 1952, so the Jelly Team of Annette Booth and Gill Bradley made 300 jellies the day before the event!
Come the day and the Table Team were greeted with grey skies - and a pile of tables and benches. |
