The left hand photograph is dated 1864 and the one on the right was taken in November 2005. There are quite a few differences:-
- The lower half of the East window had clear glass in 1864. This was replaced in 1896 by the current Tree of Jesse 5 light window by Kempe/Burlison & Grylls.
- The writing on the beams wasn’t visible our 1906 photograph, so it may have been removed when the Jesse window was put in.
- The altar is different - again the change may have been made in conjunction with the Jesse window addition.
- The walls are relatively devoid of statuary - this was some 40 years before Sir Hubert’s time in Venice when he gathered many of the ‘images’ that decorate the church and houses in Upper Froyle.
