What an eye-opener! The family begins to reveal itself - and my goodness - what an enormous one it is. Presently resident in South Africa, but will be relocating back to UK, I hope to visit Froyle and re-connect with more of my roots. Great site - thankyou!

A website to be proud of, if only all vilages followed suit then genealogy research would be a lot easier. Well done. I am directly descended from the KNIGHT, COOMBS, REED, PINK & DAWES families from the area & would love to swap info.

I found your site whilst researching information for a book of walks which includes a walk along the River Wey. The site is excellent providing a very entertaining insight into a the history of small part of Hampshire.

I found out through this web site that my granfather George Laney had a brother named Frank and a sister named Kathleen. I had managed to trace Frank over the years but lost track of Kathleen.
That is until I received an e-mail from Paul Aston asking after my grandad. He provided information of what happened to Kathleen. He also provided information and photographs of another sister named Kate and a brother named Albert.

This is truly one of the best sites I have come across-simple and clear but thorough. A delight to use. well done.
If only I had found it many months ago I could have saved myself a deal of time sorting out the Arndels from the Arndles,Arnolds,Arundels etc.All the same originally.

my mother`s maiden name was Kathleen Laneyand she was the daughter of Frank
an Matilda Laney (nee Elton). At the age of about 15 she went to Bradford, Yorkshire to join her sister Kate due to the lack of employment in the agricultural areas of the South.

What a fantastic website! My granny (Joan Gould) used to live at Witchen in Lower Froyle, and I have very fond memories of the times I stayed with her. It's amazing to see some names that I remember from when I was the same age as my children are now!!!
